West Pokot County Sets Ksh 240M Revenue Target, Launches Sector Working Groups for Strategic Budget Planning
The County Budget and Economic Forum (CBEF) convened today and set a revenue target of Ksh 240 million for the upcoming financial year to boost the county’s own-source revenue.
The forum announced the launch of sector working groups, chaired by County Executive Committee Members (CECs), to begin on Monday. These groups will focus on project costing to ensure development initiatives align with fiscal realities.
Discussions also covered the County Budget Review and Outlook Paper (CBROP) 2024, the Annual Development Plan (ADP), and the County Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP). Status updates on projects, public hearings for the 2025/2026 fiscal year, and the approval of tentative sector ceilings for 2025/2026 were also on the agenda.
Public participation was highlighted through a review of the Public Participation Report, ensuring citizen involvement in the budget-making process. ADP priorities across departments were also discussed for comprehensive development planning.
Governor Simon Kachapin emphasized the need for prudent budget utilization, urging the executive team to develop and implement plans within designated timelines.
“Let’s use our budgets wisely to meet our targets and raise the living standards of our people through programs in water, health, and infrastructure,” the governor stated.
The governor underlined his administration’s commitment to budget transparency, ensuing it is streamlined to community’s needs.
The governor was flanked by his deputy Robert Komolle.
