West Pokot County Hosts Development Partners’ Forum to Tackle Social and Economic Challenges

The County Government of West Pokot, led by Governor Simon Kachapin, held a round table breakfast meeting with over 60 development partners, including World Vision International, Action Against Hunger, Kenya Red Cross Society, Sikom Peacenet, Acted, The Northern Rangelands Trust, Red Cross among others with the aim of deepening partnerships to address the county's pressing social and economic issues.
In the face of financial constraints at both the national and county levels, the support of these partners has been essential in closing critical gaps and advancing development efforts in West Pokot. While progress has been made, challenges such as poverty, teenage pregnancy, low vaccination rates, stunted growth in children, and high illiteracy remain significant hurdles that require a united response.
Governor Kachapin highlighted the transformative impact of devolution but stressed the ongoing need for county-specific policies and legislation that respond directly to local challenges. The Partners’ Forum provided an opportunity to align on shared objectives and explore innovative approaches to tackle climate change and other emerging issues, all with the goal of improving the well-being of every resident in West Pokot.
Through continued collaboration with these partners, the County Government is optimistic about creating sustainable solutions that will drive progress and uplift the lives of all who call West Pokot home.
