Governor Simon Kachapin Chairs Cabinet Meeting to Review Major Upcoming Events and Projects
Governor Simon Kachapin presided over a cabinet meeting to review and receive updates on two significant upcoming events in West Pokot County.
The first event, the West Pokot Agricultural and Trade Exhibition, is scheduled for 19th to 21st September 2024. This annual exhibition is expected to attract exhibitors, farmers, traders, and investors from the region and beyond. It will serve as a platform to showcase innovations in agriculture, trade, and technology, promoting local economic growth and sustainable development in the county.
The cabinet also discussed preparations for the International Day of Peace, set to be commemorated in the county on 21st September. The event will focus on peace-building, unity, and social cohesion—key pillars in the region’s development agenda. Various peace initiatives, particularly those involving youth and women empowerment, will be highlighted during the celebrations.
In addition to event preparations, the cabinet approved several key projects under the 2024/2025 financial year. These projects, which focus on infrastructure, education, healthcare, and water access, will begin immediate implementation. Governor Kachapin reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to fast-tracking these projects to improve service delivery and enhance the quality of life for West Pokot residents.
The governor stressed the importance of collaboration between the county government, development partners, and local communities to ensure the success of these initiatives.
