First stakeholder engagement workshop for the Kapenguria municipality local Physical and land use development plan
Department of Lands, Physical Planning Housing and Urban Development held its first stakeholder engagement workshop for the Kapenguria municipality local Physical and land use development plan at Siyoi AIC church in Siyoi ward.
The stakeholders engagement workshop will be done for three consecutive days to cover Siyoi, Mnagei and Kapenguria wards. In Mnagei ward, the workshop will be done at ELCK church in Tartar while that of Kapenguria ward will be at Mtelo Hall.
The workshop seeks to draw views and opinions from the stakeholders on priorities and existing gaps including water shortage and water ways ,road reserve, electricity among others in order to develop the Kapenguria municipality local Physical and land use development plan (2023-2033) that is owned by the community.
Being an all inclusive document, Hamilton Bett- the County Principal Physical Planner took the residents present through the guidelines and stages that will be used to develop the Kapenguria municipality local Physical and land use plan and encouraged them to embrace the plan for the benefit of their socioeconomic development.
The meeting was graced and officially opened by the County Executive Committee member for Lands Physical Planning Housing and Urban Development Hon. Esther Chelimo who acknowledged the importance of the plan to avoid mistakes that will cost the county residents in the future.
Accompanying the CEC member was Chief Officer in charge of Lands, Housing Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mathew Rionokol who echoed the County Executive Committee member's sentiments by urging the residents to envision their ward as they desire and partner with the ministry to develop the expected plan.
In attendance were Kapenguria municipality manager-Joseph Eritom, Kapenguria municipality board members, Siyoi ward administrator-Samuel Toroitich, technical officers from the ministry among other administration leaders.
