DNDi team meets with Governor Kachapin
The Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative ( DNDI) team led by Incoming country Director DNDI Eastern Africa office Prof. Samuel Kamau, the outgoing country Director Dr. Monique Wasunna DNDi Eastern Africa, Joelle Tanguy the External affairs Director_ GENEVA, Delali Attipoe DNDi North America, Simon Bolo- Head of Leishmaniasis Access Africa, Linet Atieno head of Communications Africa held a meeting with County Government of West Pokot administration led by H.E Governor Simon Kachapin, County Executive Committee Member for health and sanitation Ms. Claire Parklea, Director of health Dr. Nangole, Planning and policy Dr. Murie, Kacheliba subcounty hospital Medical superintendent Dr. Chege and Chief of staff Tyno Rotino.
The meeting's agenda centered around various matters including introduction of the new Country Director of DNDi, visit by Global External Affairs Director & Director of DNDi North America office, planned Charity marathon in Kacheliba (running for Neglected patients), medical camp/Mass screening of the diseases but the target is Kala-azar (black fever), launch of new Oral drug for Kala-azar in November this year, DNDi continuous support for Kacheliba subcounty Hospital for over 10 years through conducting various clinical trials on Kala-azar and treating kala-azar patients, ground breaking at Sigor subcounty hospital where the new 10 million worth 32 bed capacity ward for Kala-azar will be build and having a formal MoU between DNDi and County Government of West Pokot in the near future.
