CECM FOR EDUCATION HON. REBECCA KIDE FLAGS OFF ELIMU SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME
The CECM for Education and Technical training Hon. Rebecca Kide joined
corporate leaders in flagging off Elimu Scholarship Programme at Equity branch
Kapenguria.
The programme which is funded by World Bank and run by Equity Group Foundation and Jomo Kenyatta Foundation on behalf of the Ministry of education has so far benefitted more than 411 students in the county.
This year, a total of 69 students will benefit from the programme. After a thorough searching of the bright and needy students, 36 students got the scholarship through Equity and 33 were awarded through Jomo Kenyatta Foundation.
While delivering Governor's speech, Hon. Rebecca appreciated both Equity and Jomo Kenyatta Foundation for their effort to help students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access education and secure their future.
She noted that the programme is in tandem with the County's objective of ensuring every student gets a fair share of education through bursary kitty.
Equity branch manager Mr. James Biwott urged the students to utilize the opportunity well as this was a start of a journey on path towards achieving academic excellence and changing their livelihoods.
Mr. Benard Kimachas, TSC County Director, lauded Equity for revolutionizing education through Wings to fly and Elimu programme. He also urged beneficiaries to work hard in school for a better tomorrow.
The leaders present were; Chief Officer for Education Mr. Julius Lokituman, Kapenguria Ward MCA, Hon. Richard Mastaluk and Mnagei Ward MCA, Hon. Todosia Ruto among others.
