AMBASSADOR DR. LOCHODO VISITS COUNTY HEADQUATERS FOR A PEACE INNITIATIVE

A team on a peace-walk from Turkana County led by Ambassador Dr. Charles Malcolm Lochodo and Mrs. Mary Moroto were received by County secretary Jonathan Siwanyang at the county headquarters.

The team, which is on a mission to preach peace among warring communities following rise of insecurity, arrived at Kapenguria after trekking from Lodwar on their way to Eldoret, a total distance of 367 Km.

The County Secretary expressed his gratitude for the team led by Dr. Lochodo for the noble initiative which he termed as God's calling to restore peace within the affected communities. He acknowledged that it was not easy to walk all those kilometres traversing regions deemed insecure.

Mr. Siwanyang added that the county is putting in more effort to avert proliferation of insecurity cases by channeling more resources and development to the affected areas. He also urged leaders from all the regions to collaborate and work together for a sustainable peace.

Ambassador Dr. Lochodo appreciated the county government and the governor for always striving to achieve peaceful coexistence between the two communities. He emphasized on the need of leaders to hold dialogues with locals on security matters.

"If leaders can talk to their people to stop this vice, peace can prevail. Those people actually listen to their leaders. I urge leaders to be responsible." He said.

The county secretary was also joined by CEC-M for Public Service Management Mr. Martin Lotee, CEC-M for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Mr Joshua Siwanyang, Mrs Lilian Korinyang- Chief Officer for Special programs and the Director, Governors press Mr. Siwatom.
