H.E DEPUTY GOVERNOR RECEIVES PROJECT REPORTS FROM WATER SECTOR TRUST FUND

Deputy Governor H.E Robert Komolle met a team from Water sector Trust Fund on a status report of projects being implemented by the Fund.

Under the End Drought Emergency: Climate Proofed Infrastructure for Improved Water Supply and Sanitation in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands Areas program, the Fund targets to improve access to safe and clean water in rural areas and ensure sustainability in the running of rural water schemes.

Peter Koech, Manager for Water and Sanitation at WSTF, highlighted that the Muruny-Chepareria Water Project had delayed for nearly four months owing to land tussles, and asked the county government to intervene to ensure the project is fast tracked.

Deputy Governor assured the team that the county is committed to ensure that the project is fully implemented, pointing out that the county administration will hold a consultative meeting with the land owners to resolve underlying issues, and ensure works resume immediately.

The Kes. 3 billion EDE-CPIRA partnership Program with the county government targets to improve access to safe and clean water in rural areas in counties among them West Pokot County, Baringo and Samburu.
